2017 KSM Art Contest

In celebration of “KOREAN WAY” located on Route 40 Howard County, Maryland; students Grades PreK through 12th are encouraged to submit an original artwork following the theme “Hwaiting Korea!”

Judging will be done in five age categories {PreK~Kindergarten, 1st~2nd, 3rd~5th, 6th~8th, and 9th~12th} with one total grand prize winner, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners, and honorable mentions in each category.

Contest Rules:

  • Each student may submit only one piece of artwork.
  • The student’s name must be written only on the back of the artwork.
  • Each piece of artwork must have a completed Contest Entry Form attached to the back with tape or clear glue stick.
  • Artwork must be submitted on a 9’’ x 12’’ piece of paper.
  • Digital copy will not be accepted.
  • Entries should not be framed or mounted.
  • All artwork must be two dimensional, using any of the following or its combination: watercolor, acrylic, oil paint, colored pencil, color marker, ink, charcoal, pastel, crayon, collage, computer-generated artwork, photography, or traced image.

All submitted artwork is owned by The Korean Society of Maryland.

Artwork Submission:

  • Entry fee will be $10 per student.
  • Participating teachers, coordinators, or parents must submit student’s original designs with the Contest
  • Entry Form glued or taped on the back through the U.S. Mail postmarked on or before August 11, 2017

This is the official Korean Society of Maryland page for Ellicott City Horrific Flooding, the state’s Korean and Korean American organization that would love to give back to our hometown community. Korean Society of Maryland and Howard County Korean Society in a joint effort is collecting contributions via this GoFundMe page to support every single victim of the horrific flooding in downtown Ellicott City, MD. This includes  residents, business owners, and property owners impacted by severe flooding on Main Street in Ellicott City.

The Korean Society of Maryland and Howard County Korean Society announced a partnership with Howard County Government  to ensure all funds collected for victims are disbursed in a unified process that will expedite funds, ensure transparency and safeguard against fraud.

We have made available emergency deployment of short-term disbursements from our fundraising efforts, and connected victims with the immediate funds available via state and federal resources. We are committed to raising as much as we can to ensure long-term support for the victims’ families and survivors. The money raised towards this fund directly supports the victims families and survivors.

TERMS OF PARTICIPATION
(1) Artist(s) shall be an individual artist/performing group with ethnic Asians represented in the group. (2) Artist(s) shall present a demo piece/sample work either through live performance (via YouTube/Facebook Video/Vimeo, etc.) for audition purposes. (3) Artist(s) shall commit to the performance date and time requirements: Korean Festival of Maryland Sept. 17, 2016 sometime (TBD) between 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. (4) Artist(s) and/or its primary representative shall work interactively with the organizer to ensure the best quality performance for the festival. (5) Artist(s) shall submit detailed descriptions of its group, performance, any photography, cd/dvd, video clips, newsprints and other promotional materials that the Organizer can use as part of the festival’s promotional plan. (6) Artist(s) shall assist in promoting Korean Festival of Maryland to the public, especially its own community and/or provide the network for the Organizer to do so.
